What Is Veterinary Physiotherapy?

Animals, like people can benefit greatly from physiotherapy, the main aims of which are to restore and maintain mobility, function, independence and performance.

Chartered physiotherapists use movement analysis in combination with a sound knowledge of the neuro-musculoskeletal system to identify and provide effective treatment and rehabilitation, complementing the medical and general management of a wide range of conditions.

Physiotherapy is an essential adjunct to conventional veterinary medicine and Jenny works collaboratively with vets and other professionals to ensure your animal receives optimal rehabilitation.

By Law

In accordance with the Veterinary Surgeons Act, 1966 all physiotherapists working with animals are legally required to obtain veterinary consent prior to treating any animal.
For all clients, permission to treat your animal is gained from your vet prior to the first appointment ensuring adequate protection of the animal and good communication between physiotherapist and vet.
